ACMA Biennial Conference - Overcoming Barriers to Asian Health - May 08 2021 at the Highbrook Conference Suites.

This one-day conference will be an enjoyable experience for health professionals to update their clinical knowledge and skills. The multi-disciplinary program caters for and registration is open to medical doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, students and others practicing and studying primary health care and anyone who is interested in Asian Health.

Continuing Medical Education Meetings

ACMA runs educational sessions four times a year for its members. This provides a more intimate environment to gain clinical knowledge in selected topics from specialists and presenters who are leaders in their fields. Following the medical talk there is a shorter 30min session reserved for other topics of interest. Examples include: Chinese culture and history, financial advice, real estate, self-care and similar. Duration of CME meetings is 3.5 hours.

Community Health Talks and Health Stalls - various dates and venues

ACMA runs regular health talks four times a year at various venues where member doctors talk to the general public on various health topics. ACMA also run health check stalls at some of these and other large events. These are supervised by ACMA medical doctors and operated by medical students and involve checking multiple physical parameters such as blood pressure as well as offering general medical advice to the public. We have a regular stand at ACCC Chinese New Year Festival at the ASB Showgrounds where an estimated 20,000 persons will be in attendance. We welcome sponsorship to cover stall hire costs, medical equipment, stationery, and disposable materials.

ACMA Newsletter

ACMA produces a quarterly newsletter which is emailed to its members and affiliated student association, YACMA. We welcome sponsors to advertise their products and services on these pages.


Student Activities

ACMA funds an elective scholarship for final year medical students to enable them to extend their clinical horizons in New Zealand and abroad. ACMA also supports our doctors of the future through organising workshops to improve their practical skills, doctor-student mentoring and conducting career evenings.

About Us

The objectives of the Association shall be to develop and promote the cultural and professional wellbeing of Chinese New Zealanders.

  • To be beneficial to the community by serving as a voice on matters of medical health concern affecting Chinese New Zealanders

  • To educate the general public and in particular the Chinese community of current and recurring health issues through the conducting of free Chinese and English language public seminars and health checks

  • To be beneficial to the community by running a website providing/linking medical information for free download and to provide a free directory of registered medical practitioners specifying the Chinese language abilities of the members of the Association

  • To advance education by supporting young registered doctors and medical students with developing and building their knowledge, skills, and character through seminars, workshops, career evenings, and activities

  • To make grants by way of scholarships medical students for academic excellence and achievements

  • To provide continuous education to its members through co-hosting international and local health conferences and seminars on current medical issues so as to enhance the skills and knowledge of its members in advising and educating the public
